Why has the Willie Wisely Trio booked our record release gig at an antique store? Because we're relics from another age baby! We're celebrating the release of our new album "True" on Saturday, May 19 at the
Olde Town Creamery in Maple Lake, a small town outside Minneapolis. It's among the finest venues in the nation, run
by an amazing crew of music lovers. The Trio is psyched! Tickets are extremely limited. We will notify the email first, so please sign up here. Expect more dates in Madison, NYC, LA & Japan. Photo: Brent Roske.

The Willie Wisely Trio recorded 13 songs with children's music recording artist Michael Ryther at Flowers Studio in Minneapolis. Michael teaches theater to grade schoolers in the Los Angeles Unified District and is creating an environmentally themed album that teaches kids how to care for and learn from the earth. More to come on this project as we complete it in Los Angeles this fall. Become Michael's friend on

The Willie Wisely Trio is reuniting! And we're celebrating the completion of our forthcoming album "True" with a spate of hometown shows! The four Trio members (who obviously flunked math) have not boarded a stage together since 1993!
We couldn't be more excited to conjure the chemistry we developed while touring over 400 North America gigs in our rusted '83 Dodge van (original color unknown). See if you can hear all those miles in this sneak preview from the new record?
Although the new album won't be officially released until early 2012, the Trio will have pre-release CD's exclusively at our reunion shows. Be the first to own a copy. See you at the shows!

For a limited time, starting at just $1, you can be a producer of my stage musical. It's called "COFFEE" and the concept is buzzin'. I'm in the midst of writing and producing a stage musical with a slammin' team of New York and LA-based writers. Click the image to watch the video Be a Broadway producer.
Please, back us at any level: $1 (for a sip), or $10K (for the Grande). It's extremely simple and there are percs [sic] for you too!
Musicals roast a lot of money. Our goal is a steamin' $50k. We received our first grand in just a couple days. Please back our project. If we don't meet our goal, we don't get our funding and you don't pay--so don't wait until it's au lait.

Combing through over 100 board-tapes from Willie Wisely Trio concerts 1989-1995. We were wierd. There's never been a band quite like it. We'll leak some tracks as we approach the release of our reunion record this summer. Gigs too.

After buttonholing songwriting hero Paul Williams (Rainy Days On Mondays) and then jazz guitar great Kenny Burrell, and then being brought to tears by a Loudon Wainwright III show AND seeing Quincy Jones talk about his career at ASCAP's EXPO 2010 last weekend, it was a garbunctuan thrill to be invited to perform at the Attendee Showcase. Awesome event! ASCAP I'm loving you! 1.08.2010 : 3:57pm : Laurel Canyon, CA

PSYCHED to announce the digital release of the new Andy Dick album "Darkest Day Of The Year", co-produced and written with Andy, Andras Jones & myself, plus a big assist from Ryan Perez-Daple.
Recorded at my studio in Laurel Canyon, "Darkest Day Of The Year" (Ella Records) is Andy's POP ART music masterwork, in the most Warholian sense. But let's not confuse the Andys here. This is Mr. Dick's music vision, and it ain't 20:20.
Memories of the sessions persist, much like the smell of the easy chair in my studio, thanks to Andy's deep-cleanse, garlic vitamin farts. I'm remembering Andy molesting our baritone saxophonist; Brian Wilson's percussionist Nelson Bragg playing a spade, a screw driver, a waste basket and a tin of nails; Lisa Jenio acting the witless jailbait to Andy's 'Dorm Daddy'; Andy's rectal therapist playing bassoon, really well, of course. Are you sensing a theme?
The studio door was flung wide with contributions from by Anya Marina, Tommy Barbarella, Lili Haydn, Anthony Rapp, DJ Bonebrake, Christopher McGuire, Shmushkin, JT Bates, Petur Smith, Mike Ruekberg, Loren Gold, Lisa Jenio, Nelson Bragg, Tim Walsh, Chuck Zwicky, Billy Hawn, Natasha Boyd and more.

Check me out as guest on the Pop Rock Candy Mountain Podcast. It's me, along with Steve Agee (The Sarah Silverman Program, Jimmy Kimmel Live), Mary Birdsong (Reno 911, Hairspray, Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me) and Kate Flannery (The Office). The topic is "self help madness"! One recording artist against three comedians... tell me how I do?

THE LP IS IN!!! The first Wisely record ever on vinyl, re-mastered by analog gurus Kevin Gray & Steve Hoffman with cover art beautifully adapted by Pete Rosenzweig at worknonwork. The medium IS the message, and this message sounds amazing. Hell, even I can enjoy a Wisely record now. Plus, in my collection, it rests between Paul Williams & Ron Wood, which is actually an astute description of the album? EXCLUSIVELY AVAILABLE HERE in a limited edition of 500.

If you're lookin for recommendations on new music Future Sounds Compilation 31 is a great source. My song "Through Any Window" is track 8. Hell, I devour new music constantly and IÕve heard very few of these artists. The disc is released by Tankfarm Clothing. The cat who currates it has a great pulse to his choices. Dig in.

Contributing artists include Calexico, Dick Dale, M. Ward, Stray Cats, Simple Kid, Lee Scratch Perry and so many more cool artists it's a little hard to believe. Visit the Musicians For Minneapolis site to buy your own copy (57 songs!). Thanks to James Edlund and everyone at Electro-Voice for making it happen.
2.24.2008 : 5:25pm : Laurel Canyon, CA April 19 is the 1st Annual Record Store Day. An event to let us know that record stores are still kickin' (and they are with all the scanning gadgets you can audition anything in the store instantly, bring yer iPod and buy files, boom). There are still stores that care about the music where customers can go deep with a knowledgable staff. I've visited dozens on my winter album release
tour and was blown away.
In the recent book by Jim Walsh titled "The Replacements: All Over But The Shouting, an Oral History", yours truly is quoted regarding a formative record store experience. It's a great book, about a great band and re-ignites my own passion for the best way of buying records: in person. See page 78.
2.18.2008 : 11:01pm : Laurel Canyon, CA

"Wisely's new album presents the best possible face of rock/pop music today: smart, beautifully melodic, and rhythmically diverse. He builds on his years of honing the fine art of songwriting and shows great confidence with his voice. I love it, and if you like great pop/rock, you will too."
--DAVID PAKMAN, CEO, EMUSIC.COM
"The new album "Wisely" is filled with gems that should be all over the radio: "Cracked World View", "Through Any Window", "California", "Nothing But Wind". He's also a consummate showman who knows how to connect with an audience. And hey, how many other independent artists could get one of the biggest stars on TV - Jenna Fischer from "The Office" to appear in his music video simply because she loves his music?"
--JAMES COMBS, PRODUCER, NEW GROUND, KCRW-FM
"With sharp words and sweet hooks PARADOR straddles the divide between classic songcraft and idiosyncratic visions."
--JOAN ANDERMAN, BOSTON GLOBE
"...his most accomplished album."
--KEVIN BRONSON, LOS ANGELES TIMES
"this consistently perfect record puts the artist's talents on full display - and that's a helluva display."
--WENDE CROWLEY, MUSIC SUPVISOR, CBS' "Cold Case"
"Parador" is a beautiful collection of songs and melodies that touch
every part of your emotional repertoire."
--ROGER JANSEN, KMA MANAGEMENT
"A big leap forward for Wisely... discplining his quirky side
while still coming off as cool."
--JONATHAN DANIEL, CRUSH MANAGEMENT
"This is Everything" is a freaking smash."
--DAN HODGES, MURRAH MUSIC
"J'adore PARADOR."
--SARAH HERSACK, FULL CONTACT CREATIVE
